Final Year Project (FYP) is a compulsory for all final year student. Each student will choose their topic according to supervisor and topic of their interest. Considering water as the most important element for living I chose to study about water quality analysis. In our country main water source is from river which flow from mountains to the sea. So if the water flow from the mountain is not polluted it can reduce the cost for water treatment. Other than that, drinking clean water increase our general health.
if our river water is clean we no need Bio-Aura, Hai-O and whatsoever...haha.
In this project i want to determine the classes of river function as water supply for Karak area. Parameters measured for water class assessment are pH, Dissolved Oxygen, Biological Oxygen Demand, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Total Suspended Solid and Ammonical Nitrogen Content value. Some of these parameters will be determine at sampling site (in Situ) and some will be brought back to lab for assessment.
At the end of this research i would determine suitability of this water for washing, cleaning, drinking and other usage.if you are staying at karak or bentong area, just wait and see how clean is your river water.stay tuned.huhu.
do you have any ideas to reduce the water pollution?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your question.there are several ways to reduce water pollution my dear.
ReplyDelete1)society or public should stop throwing waste
into river.
2)industries operator should plan a proper
waste management system to eliminate their
toxic or by-product of their factories.
3)Government can enforce strict regulation for
in reducing direct waste drainage into
river.
lets say that the quality of the water is under a good condition,is it still need to treat with chlorine or what..? and how u know that the water is safe to use for our daily usage?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your concern Rosalinda.
ReplyDeleteYes we still need to treat water with chlorine.
Chlorine functions to kill bacteria, viruses, and other organism in water. Even if the water is safe for drinking at sampling site,it may be exposed to bacterial and viral contamination during transport, storage and distribution of water.Chlorine addition will ensure that water is free from those organism during the process.
For your second question, several parameters are taken into account to confirm that the water is not polluted.
a)DO-Dissolve oxygen
b)pH
c)BOD-Biochemical Oxygen demand
d)COD-Chemical Oxygen Demand
e)TSS- Total Suspended Solid.
f)Ammonical Nitrogen Level
g)Coliform bacteria
h)Heavy Metal Contain.
i)Nutient level(e.g phosphate,Nitrate,sulphate)
water analysis on each parameters should be within their range to ensure that it is safe for daily usage.
